Hospitals

Hospitals play an extremely important role in the health and wellbeing of our communities. They provide potentially life saving services, as well as offering treatment, care and recuperation facilities for our sick and injured.

Special attention must be given to the design of insulation for these facilities, to
minimise the physical stress on patients and staff and to provide comfortable, energy efficient, quiet, safe and healthy environments

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) makes provisions for energy efficiency, and fire protection for Hospital under Class 9. Individual state variations compliment the national BCA building requirements.

Where the BCA does not specifically cover hospitals – such as sound insulation provisions – there is a strong argument to support the voluntary inclusion of high standard sound insulation, to improve worker effectiveness and patient comfort.
