Warehouses & Factories

Manufacturing, storage and distribution of finished goods are the key elements contributing to economic growth and employment. The design requirements of this sector are extremely diverse, from high tech ‘clean’ manufacturing environments, to storage for refrigerated or flammable goods, each application needs careful consideration.

This must be balanced with the wellbeing and comfort of the personnel in these facilities, to ensure optimum levels of productivity and job satisfaction. The Building Code of Australia (BCA)/National Construction Code (NCC) makes provisions for energy efficiency and fire protection for factories and warehouses under Classes 7 and 8.

Where the BCA/NCC does not specifically cover factories and warehouses, such as sound insulation provisions, the inclusion of high standard insulation to ensure the health and safety of personnel must be considered for each project.

The Bradford DesignSmart calculator has been developed to assist designers, specifiers, builders and contractors to choose the right insulation product for their application, in order to both meet the BCA/NCC requirements and to provide a more sustainable, functional and economical project solution.
