The design of insulation systems for shopping centres is becoming increasingly complex as the centres grow in size and receive a significant amount of household shopping expenditure.
Today’s shopping centres are meeting centres, eating centres and entertainment centres. In order to maximise consumers’ enjoyment and spending, it is vital that these environments are comfortable, safe and sufficiently peaceful to encourage shoppers to spend more time and money. To reduce running costs and promote sustainability it is also important to ensure energy efficiency is optimised.
The Building Code of Australia (BCA)/National Construction Code (NCC) makes provisions for minimum levels of energy efficiency and fire protection for shopping centres under Class 6. Where the BCA/NCC does not specifically cover shopping centres, such as sound insulation provisions, bulk Glasswool insulation provides excellent acoustic properties to complement its thermal and fire properties.
The Bradford DesignSmart calculator has been developed to assist designers, specifiers, builders and contractors to choose the right insulation product for their application, in order to both meet the BCA/NCC requirements and to provide a more sustainable, functional and economical project solution.
