Hospitals

Hospitals play an extremely important role in the health and wellbeing of our communities and as such special attention must be given to the design of insulation for these facilities to minimise the physical stress on patients and staff. The Building Code of Australia (BCA)/National Construction Code (NCC) makes provisions for energy efficiency and fire protection for Hospitals under Class 9. Individual state variations compliment the national BCA/NCC building requirements.

Where the BCA/NCC does not specifically cover hospitals, such as sound insulation provisions, there is a strong argument to support the voluntary inclusion of a high standard sound insulation, to improve worker effectiveness and patient comfort.

The Bradford DesignSmart calculator has been developed to assist designers, specifiers, builders and contractors to choose the right insulation product for their application, in order to both meet the BCA/NCC requirements and to provide a more sustainable, functional and economical project solution.
