It is a composite insulation product made from an expanded polystyrene (EPS) core with a Thermobar reflective foil laminate applied to both sides to create a rigid reflective board.
The EPS core is a partly open and partly closed cell foam, lightweight yet semi-rigid cellular plastic material. Thermofoil Board is typically installed on external wall building structures (similar to a wall wrap fabric) to provide improved thermal, vapour barrier and draft sealing properties when joins are taped. The combination of the bulk insulation properties from the EPS core and reflective foil laminate when it is installed alongside a still air space, provide energy efficiency properties to external walls.
Key features and benefits:
- Provided the benefits of bulk insulation with different thicknesses of EPS foam core available
- Combines the benefits of a reflective facing for additional thermal performance when positioned adjacent to an air-space in the building cavity
- Able to act as a vapour barrier when used in conjunction with sealed joints and penetrations
- Lightweight and easy to install to the external frame with mechanical fasteners
Note: This product is not recommended in bush fire prone zone applications or use in ceiling, under soffit and/or flooring applications.
