Class 10b - Non-habitable structures

Class 10b are non-habitable structures being a fence, mast antenna, retaining walls, swimming pools or similar.

Sound transmission and Insulation

The objective of providing sound transmission and insulation in a building is to prevent loss of amenity due to undue sound being transmitted between different buildings or dwellings.

As class 10b structures are considered non-habitable, loss of amenity is not required to be considered as there are occupants of such buildings whose amenity need be considered.

The BCA does not contain any sound insulation requirements for Class 10 a buildings accordingly.
